Terms of Service

Written to be read. If anything here surprises you, tell us — surprise is a bug.

Effective: at general availability · Last updated: July 2026

1. The agreement

These terms govern your use of the Sqwig component, website, and services ("Sqwig"). Sqwig is a product of Learn Wise Solutions LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company ("we," "us"). By creating an account, installing the component, or using the service, you agree to these terms. The Sqwig Covenant is incorporated by reference — its pricing promises bind us in every plan.

2. License grant

Subject to your plan and these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to integrate the Sqwig component into your application(s) and serve it to your end users:

What counts as an application: a distinct product or service, identified by its primary domain(s) or app identity. Staging, development, and test environments of a licensed application do not count as additional applications. Unlimited developers may work with Sqwig under any plan.

3. Restrictions

4. Fees, renewals, and the covenant

Paid plans are billed as stated at purchase (monthly or annually). Renewals are governed by the Covenant: increases capped at CPI or 5% (whichever is lower), no change of pricing-model shape for existing customers, no metering, no per-developer fees, support never sold separately. You may cancel any time; paid periods already invoiced are non-refundable except where required by law.

License keys are signed tokens verified offline on your users' devices — Sqwig operates no license server and receives no verification traffic — and they are version-windowed in your favor: component versions released while your subscription is active continue to work forever, even if your subscription later lapses.

5. Support

Support is included with every plan and is never a separate purchase. Channels and response expectations scale with plan: documentation and community (Free), best-effort email (Starter), email with SLA (Business), and priority support with a named contact (Enterprise), as described on the pricing page at the time of purchase.

6. Privacy and user content

The base Sqwig component processes your end users' text entirely on their devices; we do not receive it and claim no rights to it. See the Privacy Policy. Any future optional feature that transmits text will be opt-in and clearly labeled before activation.

7. Intellectual property

Sqwig, its code, dictionaries as assembled, brand, and documentation remain our property (including open-source components used under their respective licenses, which are acknowledged in the distribution: bundled components and their licenses are listed in THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt inside the npm package, and the SCOWL word-list license ships beside the dictionary files). Your application, your content, and your users' content remain yours.

8. Warranty disclaimer

Sqwig is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard on quality — but we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Spellcheck suggestions are automated aids and may be imperfect; you are responsible for your application's content.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, and our total aggregate liability under these terms is limited to the amounts you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim (or US $100 for Free plans).

10. Termination

You may stop using Sqwig and cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these terms after notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure where practicable. Sections 6–9 survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced to account holders by email at least 30 days before taking effect. Changes can never override the Covenant for an existing customer.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania.
